What ConnectWise actually is
ConnectWise PSA has been a fixture of the managed services industry for many years and sits at the centre of an unusually large ecosystem - its own product suite, a substantial third-party integration marketplace, and one of the most active partner communities in the sector. For a provider that wants to standardise on a single vendor across PSA, RMM, remote access and quoting, it is a coherent and well-supported answer. What comes up in conversation is the weight of it: adoption is a programme of work rather than an installation, and the platform assumes a scale and a degree of process maturity that not every provider has yet.
Credit where it is due
What ConnectWise does well
These are the real reasons it has the customers it has. If two or more of them describe something you need, weight them heavily.
Extremely broad functional coverage across the whole MSP operation, refined over many years.
One of the largest integration marketplaces in the sector - almost anything connects to it.
A very active partner and user community, with abundant training material and consultants.
A coherent single-vendor stack for providers who want PSA, RMM and remote access from one supplier.
Side by side
The differences that actually change the decision
Not a feature checklist. These are the structural differences - licensing, scope, who implements it - that determine whether a system fits, and they are the ones nobody tells you until month four.

Worth checking
Questions to put to them before you sign
None of these are faults. They are design decisions with consequences, and every one of them is answerable - so ask.
Adoption is a programme
Implementing it properly is a substantial exercise, and doing it badly is a well-documented way to end up with an expensive system that the desk works around. Budget for it as a programme rather than a project.
Assumes process maturity
The platform rewards providers who already have defined process. Firms hoping the software will impose the process tend to find that it exposes its absence instead.
Scale it is built for
The functional depth reflects a customer base that includes very large providers. A small firm gets capability it will not use for years, and pays for the surface area in learning time.
Pricing is quoted
Licensing varies by product mix and agreement. Ask for a full multi-year total including every product in the bundle before making any comparison.
If you want a single vendor across PSA, RMM, remote access and quoting, ConnectWise offers that and we do not. If you are above fifty technicians, if you need the marketplace breadth, or if you have already invested significantly in ConnectWise-specific process and training, staying is very likely the right call. We would rather tell you that than sell you a migration you will regret.
If you do move
What leaving ConnectWise actually involves
- 1
Check the agreement first
Term and notice period determine timing more than anything technical. Establish those before scoping anything else.
- 2
Inventory the integrations
Marketplace connectors accumulate quietly. List every one, what it does and what data it holds - this is consistently the largest source of migration surprises.
- 3
Decide what not to bring
Years of accumulated configuration includes things nobody uses and nobody has dared remove. Migration is the one good opportunity to leave them behind deliberately.
Questions
What people ask when comparing us with ConnectWise
Considerably, and deliberately. It is a trade: you give up functional breadth and marketplace reach in exchange for something a ten-person firm can be productive on within weeks. Whether that is a good trade depends entirely on which of those you are currently short of.
Yes. We integrate with RMM platforms rather than replacing them, so the technical tooling can stay while the business layer changes.
The data is straightforward - clients, contacts, sites, agreements, tickets and time. The difficulty is process: years of workflow that exists in the configuration and in people’s habits. We map that at discovery, and it is where the effort estimate comes from.
No. Tools in that marketplace that expose their own API can be integrated with CubeMSP directly, and we will be specific during discovery about which of yours can and cannot.
